Who are the Odd Fellows?

We are a social club and ‘secret society’ that was founded in North America in 1806! You can read up on the founding principles of the order here, and some history here.

Our local chapter is Odd Fellows Friendship Lodge #20. We meet every Monday at our lodge in Belmont. We’re a fraternal organization committed to our local communities and we believe that Friendship, Truth, and Love are the basic guidelines we need to follow in our daily lives. We also follow the command of the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows to "visit the sick, relieve the distressed, bury the dead and educate the orphan”.

We are dedicated to creating a diverse and thriving community within our lodge. We frequently host social engagements at our lodge as well as find new places to volunteer within our community. If you are interested in joining our lodge or learning more about us, please feel free to contact us.

When we conduct initiations and rituals, we wear these awesome robes! They’ve been handed down for generations and are extremely cool.

Holiday Events

We hold annual social community events for holidays! In 2024 we hosted a Halloween Dance Party, a Friendsgiving, a Santa Meet-and-Greet for families, and a New Years Eve party! We’re looking forward to holding even more fun holiday events as our community grows!

Volunteering Opportunities

Volunteering is important. It’s also great to do it in a big group, with lots of friends. We do it as much as we can.

Annual Extra Life Fundraiseer

Each hear we host a fundraiser for Extra Life, benefitting Boston Children’s Hospital. Extra Life is a charity gaming marathon, and we fundraise with a whole day of tabletop and video gaming at our Lodge, with friends and family.

Interactive Games

In 2024 we hosted “The Case of the Missing War Bonds” - a mystery puzzle hunt adventure game where the Odd Fellows were tasked with helping a lesser known member of Friendship Lodge to pass on our virtues to his children.

Social Outings

We go on social trips to various places like zoos, cemeteries, museums and more. Join us!

Lodge Repairs

On Monday’s when we aren’t having a ‘business meeting’ we work on our lodge!

Black Tie Galas

The Odd Fellows hosts a black tie gala annually and Friendship Lodge No. 20 likes to show up in style!
